This has been an interesting week. My parents arrived last Sunday and the next few days were fun, though we were shut inside because it was raining and 56 degrees for three days. Wednesday we were supposed to go to Sea World, but it was way too cold and misty, so we didn't do that. On Thursday, we were supposed to meet my aunts and grandmother halfway to Dallas, but on Tuesday night my aunt called and said Grandma wasn't feeling well, so that was canceled. Until my dad talked to another one of my aunts who lives in Temple and we decided to meet her in San Marcos for lunch, shopping and possibly a glass bottom boat ride at Aquarena Springs. Thursday morning, as we were getting ready to go, I was helping Luci go potty and stood up after lifting her down from the toilet and suddenly my back went into spasms. I've never had that happen before, at least not on the scale of this thing. I had to yell for my mom to help me out of the bathroom and to the living room where we tried several different positions to help me relax, hoping the spasms would stop. I took two Aleve and after two hours decided I could sit okay, so we went to San Marcos anyway. I basically just sat all day and tried not to move too much. That made it not much fun for me, but I think everyone else had fun. That evening my back just went crazy and I was in so much pain that movement literally made me scream. My dad and Brad decided I had to go to the ER. I had been laying down flat on a pad on the floor and I almost fainted and then almost threw up when they lifted me off the floor to go to the car. I've never felt pain like that. It was excruciating. But we got to the ER, waited for only about two hours and then they gave me two shots, one Demerol and another thing, that put me right up on cloud nine. It was heavenly to have the pain stop for awhile. The doc there precribed several pain pills and muscle relatxants. The shots allowed me to sleep on Thursday night and the pills have kept me pretty much in and out of sleep for two days. My parents left this morning. I'm feeling a lot better now, though if I move just right, YEOUCH! The doc said this could take weeks to clear up, but I'm going to a chiropractor next week and see if we can't do something faster. I can't even say how grateful I am that if this had to happen, it happened while my parents were here and we were going into a weekend. I'm really nervous about Monday, as the doc says I probably still won't be able to lift the girls or bend down and that is pretty much what I do all day. We may have to call Alexis to come stay the day with us for a few days. I'm extremely frustrated by this, but I can't do anything about it. The pain truly does make it impossible to do more than is good for me. The girls are finding this very hard to understand and have been annoyed and upset by mommy's inability to help them.
Anyway, I need to write about some other stuff, but my back is starting to ache from sitting in the chair. I'll try to catch up with my friends page at some point!
