Aug. 28th, 2005 08:31 pmThe last two days have been devoted to reorganizing the playroom and bedrooms, clearing out excess clothing, and making room for fall clothes. Yes, I'm way ahead of the curve on the fall clothes, but last year, I waited until it was actually cool enough here for fall/winter clothes, and none of the stores had any of the lighter weight fall clothes. All they had were heavy winter clothes that no one could possibly wear here and they were already bringing out spring stuff. It was weird. So I've bought the basics, mostly on ebay, especially for Mari to go to preschool. I'm starting to have a real thing about dresses. I love the way the girls look in dresses, even simple play dresses, and it is sooooo much easier to keep track of their clothing and do laundry if it is mostly one piece dresses. I'm seriously considering making more of my wardrobe dresses too, but I would hate to fall into the frumpy jumper trap and it is really difficult to find comfortable, simple, modest dresses (not skirts, I hate skirts) for women.
Mari is getting very excited about going to school. It is making me a little excited too. I really hope she enjoys it. My real hope is that it just gives her something she can call her own, some place where she can be whoever she wants without trying to compete with Zoe.
Zoe, however, is not too pleased with the idea that Mari will be going to "school" and she will not. She has told me several times that "Mari wants me to go with her. She is scared to go by herself". I get no such feeling from Mari. I keep telling Zoe that if she still really wants to go to preschool next year, then she can, but I suppose "next year" is an awfully long time to a three year old.
Luci has suddenly decided to try the potty again, after months of ignoring it completely. She has started keeping panties dry and telling me when she needs to go and even going all by herself and calling me after the fact. I don't know if this is going stick or not, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm also not pushing at all. She is totally doing this on her own initiative. But...I can't help hoping a little bit.
