Jan. 29th, 2006 07:42 pmChurch was a very difficult experience today. And yet...
Luci is dressed in a sparkly piece of cloth clipped at her neck and a plastic sparkly crown and is walking around the room "censing" with a small plastic fishing pole (it swings nicely) with complete and utter seriousness while chants from Ancient Christian radio play in the background. Zoe is lounging in a toy box being "baptized" and Mari is giving her "communion" with a spoon from an upside down basket altar, carefully set with a bowl of "wine" and a plate of "bread" (matchbox cars).
They have never really played church before. Luci sometimes stands in front of the icons and sings parts of hymns and Jesus Loves Me. But never this elaborately and with this level of understanding. When I asked Luci what she was doing she said she was the "Prest" and was blessing the church.
I wish I had thought to get the video camera out sooner because it is all winding down now.
