I spent most of yesterday shopping for and then assembling Halloween costumes. I knew if I let myself get into this, I'd go way too far into it.

Mari wants to be a fairy. This is the costume I've gone a little crazy with. An acquaintance with an older daughter gave us a sweet lavender dress with a tulle skirt. Yesterday I found lavendar wings and a simple floral wreath for her hair. I spent all evening sewing flowers onto this thing. Flowers around the waist of the dress and scattered over the skirt. I added flowers to the wreath to bring the colors together and added flowers to the wings. I still have to add some ribbon streamers to the wings and dress, but this is a gorgeous fairy outfit! Mari outgrew most of the dress up clothes we had some time ago and I keep meaning to go to a thrift store and pick up some stuff for her. She is so excited about this outfit and I had her try it on several times last night to make sure the flowers were hanging right and it wasn't easy to get it off of her.

Zoe is going to be...a paleontologist. Yep. You read that right. She originally wanted to be Darth Vader, but in the preschool parade they can't wear masks and, really, how can she be Darth Vader without a mask? We were brainstorming and, remembering her recent obsession with dinosour bones, I mentioned a paleontolgist (jokingly, actually) and she jumped onto that one. I got her a t-shirt that says "Paleontolgist in training" with a dinosour skelton on it, she'll wear some khaki pants, little hiking boots, a tool belt with a hammer, chisel, and brush, and I still have to find her a hat. A booney hat, or fedora or something...not sure what and I'm having a hard time finding anything.

Luci is going to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. This was her idea....well, mostly. The Wizard of Oz is still her favorite movie. I suggested several options for her and she chose Dorothy. This one was the easiest for me because my mom made the dress. It is adorable. She has ruby slippers from Target. All she needs is a Dorothy wig since she has short blonde hair. I thought I'd be able to find one in a store, but I had no luck at four stores yesterday. I'm afraid it may be too late to order one online. We also has a little basket with a stuffed Toto in it.

I had hoped they'd all be the same thing...or something that went together, but my girls are just getting too old and too different from each other to do much of that anymore. About the only time I can dress them alike anymore is for church and I think this may be the last year I do much of that. Zoe has VERY definate opinions about her clothes these days!
