Aug. 22nd, 2007 09:44 amWe're home. I'm glad to be here.
We stopped at Monticello on the way home yesterday. The girls were not thrilled, but I was. I have always found Thomas Jefferson fascinating, with the whole Sally Hemmings scandal, and all the mystery surrounding him. I've not read much about him, so I bought a book yesterday and am loving it. Why are other people's lives seemingly so much more interesting than our own?
I got an e-mail telling me Maria and Zoe have been assigned to a soccer team. Now my girls have never played soccer so I don't really know how this works, but I signed them up with the idea that someone would actually teach them to play the game. Skills and rules. The e-mail says they do not yet have a coach for this team and asked one of the parents to volunteer. "No coaching or playing experience needed". Huh? So I could coach this team? Why did I pay so much money for someone who has never played or coached soccer to be their coach? What was the point of that? *sigh* Brad insisted on the soccer thing. He said they need a team sport. I wanted to stick with gymnastics, but now we can't afford it. Brad said if no one else steps up, he might volunteer, but honestly he doesn't know how to teach a bunch of little girls about soccer! He hasn't played since he was about ten and I know he never watches it. He just admitted to me he doesn't even know all the rules. Ugh.
I must get back on the school wagon now. I felt so organized when we left and now I feel....confused.
