Sep. 7th, 2008 11:05 pmWe made it through the marathon weekend of soccer games. I got to see my aunt who is in town visiting. I saw her more than I expected actually because she came to soccer games. I apparently looked exactly like her as a child. I did not as an adolescent, but I do now, again. Maria told my aunt tonight "You look a lot like my mom. Especially...your feet." We all thought that was hilarious for some reason. But then again, Aunt Diana thinks everything is hilarious. She laughs constantly. Not in a jolly way though. It is different. Very real and just a total joy in life. I wish I had inherited *that*. I am far too serious and always have been. But she makes everyone around her laugh. Hard. And it is wonderful.
My girls all did well in their soccer games. They are all so different, and have all grown in such different ways. It is always fascinating to watch them do things...anything really. Maria is a little cannonball. Not particularly graceful, but strong and mighty to watch. And she never gives up. She is an aggressive and emotional player. Throws herself into it heart and soul. Zoe is finally focused on the game this year and not just cloud (or dirt) gazing anymore. She has some potential in the skill department, we can finally see. She is pretty coordinated and has some motivation now. Not nearly as timid, but not real aggressive either. She shies away if she thinks someone is going to get hurt. No powerhouse kicks milliimeters from someone's shin for her. Heh. But she grins her way through the game now. A good thing. Luci is much more timid this year. She runs and runs and runs, but seems afraid of the ball and the other players. We'll just have to see how that plays out. She is going through a weepy and sensitive phase right now and is really afraid of getting hurt. She wants to play and loves to cheer her team and celebrates with them. I think they are all having fun.
This will be another busy week. They all will be for awhile. But I have lots to look forward to and lots of motivation at the moment. Here's to hoping I can hold onto it!
