Couple of pics from Holy Friday when my girls were Myrrh Bearers at the Lamentations service. Their cousin, Nina was also a Myrrh Bearer. It was really a beautiful service and the girls were thrilled to participate.

Maria as the procession moved outside.

The procession around the kouvouklion, an elaborately decorated funeral table holding the epitaphios, an embroidered icon of the Crucified Christ. Zoe and Luci are in the front of this pic.

This is absolutely fascinating. Those with the "theology" bug, read and comment. I'd love to discuss this one.

[livejournal.com profile] ariellejulianna asking me about Nina, my five year old niece with leukemia today, reminding me that I haven't posted about her in awhile.

She is doing great. She's in the maintenance phase of treatment which will last two years. Growing some hair back. And is her usual cheerful, compassionate, joyful self. She cracked me up loving on Luci the week we spent with them. She would just hug and kiss Luci through entire church services. It was funny because when she was about two (she is EXTREMELY precocious), she seemed to decide Luci was a rival for the role of "adorable princess grandchild" and was...less than nice to Luci (who is two years older). She did things like pushing Luci out of pictures and pulling her hair to make her cry and then grinning...we all thought it was hilarious actually because it was so obvious what she was trying to do. They were the youngest girls at the time and Nina has definite "diva" tendencies. But they are shaping up to be really sweet tendencies now. She is a princess, but the good kind. Here is a pic of her on Pascha morning about midnight. She was sound asleep when the Paschal light was brought out, but she sure woke up fast in order to be the first to receive the Light and pass it on! Look at the grin!
