We've been hitting the books pretty hard since July. The girls have done great, however, they have been really complaining about their language arts stuff for the last couple of weeks. We've been using the Pathway readers, workbooks and grammar books for a couple of years now. I think they are just sick of it. Even though I think they cover things so well and are wonderful and gentle, I guess we just need a change. So I went on the hunt for something very different. I think we are going to try Learning Language Arts Through Literature. I picked up all the books and teacher's guides for all three grades (red-2nd, yellow-3rd, and orange-4th) for super cheap (used) on Abe books, only had to get the workbooks new. It looks like something the girls will like, or at least not hate, but we will have to wait and see. Anyone else used it? Any thoughts? [livejournal.com profile] moobabe, didn't you use it at one point? I'm so relieved that Luci is reading at grade level now.

I'm still not doing very well with science, as usual. *sigh* This has turned out to be my truly weak spot. They are getting a lot of picture study (Charlotte Mason art appreciation method) this year which the girls LOVE, doing great with history and even Spanish and typing. But I cannot get science going. And also I can't get Greek going. Trying not to stress too much. It will be okay. They will learn what they need and I will find a way to teach it even if I have to outsource something. Heh.

Homeschooling is continually my greatest challenge and my greatest joy.
