Maria just asked me what the word "stylish" means. The only definition I could come up with that didn't involve words I also had to define for her was "wearing what most people like and wear right now, looking good and wearing nice clothes that are like what other's are wearing". Basically, it sounded like I was saying stylish means to look like a clone of everyone else. Which is not entirely true. Being stylish is a good thing to me. Being trendy is not...always. How would you define stylish for a six year old?

We tell the 3 yr old that "stylish" means having a distinct "look." Wearing an outfit that people notice, either because of the way it was put together or the way it's being worn (with confidence or sassyness).

In our house, sunglasses make anything stylish, as does any sort of scarf or similar accessory. :)

That is good!

We like sunglasses too. They usually just get called "cool" though.
