Luci's been naked from the waist down all day today, which is our potty training method of choice. Both the other girls were "trained" that way and it worked really well, so I thought I'd try it with Luci too. I intended to wait a few more months before starting this in ernest (she's been being "intoduced" to the potty since she was 18 mos old), but yesterday she told me twice *before* she peed. She came over to me, said "peepee", I felt her diaper and she was peeing at that moment! I let her go without a diaper for awhile yesterday after that happened and twice she began peeing on the floor, I said "Stop!", she stopped and we rushed to the potty. Only made it once, but still! She can control it. She can tell me before she goes (though it is *right* before she goes so that isn't much of a window). She has words for it. She can pull up her own pants. She is READY! I hoped anyway.
So today we started for real. By 10 am I had cleaned up two pees and a poop on the floor. Thought to myself, "Self, this was a bad idea!" But about 10 minutes ago she came to me, grabbing at herself, I said "Sit on your potty." She did and TA DA! She did it!
It ain't over yet, but our diaper days are definately numbered. I'm not particularly looking forward to this in between stage where she is sorta trained, but you have to move super, super fast and you have relapses everytime you go out because she doesn't make it to the mall bathroom and then thinks, hey it was easier to just pee my pants then wait like mommy asked me to. So...fun days ahead, but once it is over....NO MORE DIAPERS!
Now I want to cry over that...but I'm not sure if it is for joy or sadness.
