Luci's newest trick.
She loves for me to put her blanky in the dryer and "warm it up". She is obsessed with this. She asks me to do it 20 times a day. And I throw it in for a few minutes whenever I can, but sometimes I just can't do it right then. I can't do it constantly. And it is going to wear her blanky out completely to keep drying it. So a few days ago, I warmed it up a couple of times and then told her we were done for the above reasons and because the dryer is really for wet clothes and stuff. So a few minutes later she brings me her blanky with a huge wet spot.
"Dryer, mommy, warm it up!" she says.
"Why is your blanky wet?" I ask.
"Pee!" says Luci. I then notice that she has no pants on. She frequently doesn't as she loves to strip and is naked most of the time. I sniff the wet spot.
She peed on her blanky. She pulled off her pants and peed on her blanky.
I explained to her that is dirty and now we have to wash her blanky not just dry it and it will take a long time. But she is apparently willing to wait. Because everytime I have said no to "warming up" the blanky she has wandered off and peed on it.
This child is literally going to drive me insane.

hahaha
I'm sorry, Dama, but that is hilarious. From an outside perspective, at least. What intelligence! What resourcefulness! What persistence!
:::sigh:::
It would definitely get old, though. Do you guys have any other way to warm it up? When I bring Isaac's diapers in from laying them out in the sun on the grass, I sometimes put a prefold over him and he loves it. They get really warm. Maybe that could be an alternative that doesn't consume electricity? Either way you still can't stop to sun Luci's blanky 500 times a day, though, I suppose.
Aaron's new thing is wanting to get inside my shirt with me. This doesn't work in just any shirt, or with just any company or when we're out. :::sigh again::: I hate it when they want something cozy and nice that just isn't practical.

Date: 2005-05-24 06:06 pm (UTC)Ya know what...I'll call it a blessing right now. Because it is. She is an incredible little person. I'm so glad she is here and I get to tell these stories about her.

I just love Luci stories.

Date: 2005-05-24 06:47 pm (UTC)That had to get frustrating. I know it did. But from my (not-having-to-deal-with-it) perspective, it's just hysterical.

Date: 2005-05-24 07:02 pm (UTC)Alternatives? I like altarflame's idea of having her put it outside, but I don't know if she is just allowed to run around outside, though, so...
Put blanky on top of the computer? Monitor? TV? But when I write that out, I'm wary of that idea too, cause, ya know, fire hazard. So maybe time-outs for poor peed-upon blanky are the best idea. Sigh.
Or perhaps you can compromise. Suggest that you will let her keep blanky during the day if she doesn't pee on it, and that you will warm it up for her before she goes down for a nap or for bedtime. That might even encourage her to actually go to bed while blanky is still warm? And if she does pee on the blanky, it has to go in time out until nap/bed time.
Maybe that'll help. And LOL.
