We took the girls to see Curious George yesterday. It was a really sweet movie that I was sure Luci would love. Mari and Zoe loved it and laughed their heads off. Luci didn't. She hated the theater, just like last time. She loves to watch movies at home, but would prefer her old standbys I think. I also, with a new perpective to look from, think she just can't tune out the rest of the theater. She was constantly turning around at every noise any other kid made (and it was a noisy theater full of preschoolers) to ask "Why is that kid crying? Is that kid happy? What is that kid doing?" She was more fascinated by the rip in the seat she was sitting in than the screen and kept rubbing her hand over it over and over again and asking how it happened. I don't know...is three just too early? It wouldn't have been for Mari or Zoe and there were certainly lots of kids even younger than Luci mesmerized by the movie. I think it was just a little too much for her. I'm feeling more strongly sure everyday that there are some sensory issues going on with Luci...we just have to figure out exactly what.

Anyway, it was an adorable movie and the soundtrack was awesome. Jack Johnson. Brad and I went on a date last night and we bought the soundtrack while we were out. The songs are all so mellow and sweet. I think I may have finally found Zoe's first slideshow song.

George also reminded me so much of Luci. I know that sounds awful, that a monkey reminds me of my daughter, but it does. The way he moved and grabbed and hugged people around the neck with his whole body. Luci does that, wraps arms and legs and everything around you and melts into you. I used to tell Brad when she was smaller and first started doing this, that I thought she could have survived very well being carried on a gorilla's back. Heh. And the mischief that George got into...oh it was all so Luci!! She is Curious George, Dennis the Menace, and Ramona Quimby all rolled into one bundle of sweet insanity. Geez I love that kid.

I can't wait to see Curious George. It sounds like you had a good day as a family.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!

As far as three being too early... Hannah's a week shy of three and a half, and I still don't want to take her to a movie. She would be asking questions the entire time. Even when we're at home, she rarely sits still through a movie. She'll get up and play, then come back and watch for a bit, then go play, then realize that, oh, it's the puppet show section of The Sound of Music and come running, then go play... you get the idea. ;) I think Hannah would've been very similar to Luci with regard to asking about all the other kids. Whenever she hears a kid making noise, she'll announce that the baby is crying (or whatever) and usually add, "He wants his mommy." (ALL crying babies, apparently, want their mommies. Maybe we've read A Mother for Choco one time too many?)

Yeesh, I've written a book here. ;)

I've enjoyed the songs I've heard off the soundtrack - I look forward to seeing the movie. I'm glad you had a good time, and sorry that Luci struggled.
