Apr. 2nd, 2006 05:52 pmThis has been a lovely day. Just sweet and full and happy.
I took some benedryl last night to make me sleep and that was HEAVENLY! I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it was to fall asleep and only wake up twice during the night and fall asleep again quickly and sleep for hours at a time. We all woke up horribly late because of the time change (Brad sets the alarm on his cell phone and he thought it would change automatically, but it didn't) so we had to hurry a lot this morning, but we made it to Liturgy before the Epistle reading. The girls were very good during church and I actually got to listen to the sermon. The Gospel reading was so appropriate for my recent struggles that I felt a jolt of shock when it was being read. Participating in the Eucharist on a much more regular basis is such wonderful thing. Lent has been a real spiritual struggle but I think I'm starting to see some of its fruits...not going any furthur with those thoughts however, as I don't want to invite temptation...
After church we went to Joe's crab shack for lunch, which was fun because it isn't really a Sunday lunch crowd kind of place so it was virtually empty and made for a somewhat intimate lunch for our little family. Then we did some shopping. We have (ugh, I can hardly say it) mice in our garage, so we needed to find some stuff to get rid of those little critters among several other things. We also invested in a new, big, inflatable pool for the girls. Last years pool sprung too many leaks to be salvaged.
But the most fun thing for me was picking out the cactus and succulants for Zoe's succulant "garden". She's absolutely fascinated by cactus right now...has been ever since she was "bit" by one at the zoo almost a year ago. When we were at a friends house about a month ago she saw a little potted succulant garden in their sun room and was enthralled by it. So today we picked out several small cactus and succulant plants and made our own little "garden" in a pot with some rocks to decorate. After we got home we potted the plants and set up the pool and they played in the water for over an hour. We set the old plastic slide and climber at the end of the pool and they had a blast sliding into the water. They are now thoroughly exhausted, so are lounging on the couch watching Lady and Tramp.
We are having black bean quesadillas for dinner. My house is a mess.
But I'm happy today.
I'll leave you with a pic we took today of the girls as they were waiting for the pool to fill. This was not posed, they crawl into the same chair together all the time. We just ran for the camera this time.
