I forgot to mention that I have a new niece. Well, she is Brad's brother's daughter, so it is really Brad's niece, but I'm married to Brad so she's mine too right? Anyway, she a cutie. Her name is Reece. My girls keep calling her Reece's Pieces. Ugh. My SIL won't like that, I'm sure. I can't wait to meet her though it will be be three months before I see her. Oh well, she will be at a good age by that point.
We shopped all day. Random errand type shopping. I'm exhausted. I'm going to go watch the last second season episode of BSG with Brad now.

Date: 2006-03-25 09:46 pm (UTC)I've heard of a boy's name "Rhys" pronounced the same way, but I've never heard of a girl with the name.
When you think about it, we do call girls by names that refer to candy. Maybe it won't be toooooo bad.

Date: 2006-03-26 01:09 pm (UTC)I'm just grateful Reece was a girl. If she'd been a boy, her name was supposed to be Slate.

Date: 2006-03-25 09:36 pm (UTC)on an only slightly related note: i had a student once named mykaylah. it's pronounced the way you pronounce michaela. her mom used to get SO pissed if you misspelled her name...even if the poor misspeller had just HEARD the name and never seen it written...as if we all would spell that name m-y-k-a-y-l-a-h on a first try. and i think it's pretty and a nice name, and i don't object to people using interesting names or spellings...but you can't expect people not to spell it your way all the time.
(if it sounds like i am comparing your sister in law to this lady, i am not...just made me think of it.)
on a much more related note: i remember when sarah was pregnant with oskar and we all just about died when they said he was going to be called oskar. and then...when he was born 7 weeks early at 2 pounds, it seemed even crazier to name this tiny little orange sized baby that big, old name. but it grew on us, and he grew into it, and i just can't imagine him being ANYTHING but oskar now. it fits him. it IS him, and now i LOVE it.
okay, now i am done with the longest comment ever. :)
