Luci's latest escapade...

In case you are new to my journal, Luci will be four next Sunday. Just so you know, before you read the story...
IKEA has a play area where you can leave your kids for half an hour in a very safe, enclosed place. You check them in and out through a gate and you have a vibrating beeper for while you are gone. We've done it a few times (boy does that half hour go fast) and the girls love it. This afternoon we stopped by IKEA so I could get the blocks in a little wooden wagon set I wanted for Brad's niece for Christmas, so Brad and I browsed while the girls played (and bought a lot more than the little wagon set, heh). When we picked the girls up the very back of Luci's pants were wet, including the waistband. Apparently she'd gone to the bathroom while we were gone and hadn't gotten her pants pulled all the way down so she wet on them. She was very annoyed by the wet pants, but I no longer carry spares so I told her she'd just have to wait until we got home to change. She was seriously annoyed by that. We went off to find Brad who was checking out. IKEA is a huge place and I was holding Luci's and Zoe's hands while Mari followed, scanning the crowd trying to find Brad. We paced all the way to the end of the checkouts and back to the exit where there was a bench situated so Brad couldn't miss us. Just as we got back to the bench I noticed the looks we were getting and glanced down at Luci who was still holding my hand. She had pulled her pants, which were elastic waistband pants, down around mid-thigh and was still trudging along beside me like nothing was wrong. With her little bum just hanging out for all the world to see. In IKEA. Seriously. This is what happened. I have no idea how long she'd been walking beside me mooning the world.

Date: 2006-12-10 11:25 pm (UTC)Also, our Ikea will give the kids a full hour, but we don't get beepers. (Hannah loves the play area, and she really scored because of our last trip there. If we'd had her with us, we wouldn't have got nearly so much.)
