I want to go to the Harry Potter book release party at Borders. Who wants to come go with me? Because Brad won't. And I don't want to go by myself. I want my book at midnight. I can't wait a single minute longer.

What should I wear? Do I have to dress all Harry Potterish? Can I just go and absorb the weirdness of the atmosphere without dressing up myself? I feel that to wear a Griffindor scarf would be dishonest. If I was at Hogwarts, I'm pretty sure I would not have been a Griffindor, even though Griffindor is the coolest by far. I'm just...not cool. So I wouldn't even know what to wear...

Wish I could go with you. I'll be going but all the way up here in Maine :p

take the harry potter house quiz ;)

http://nimbo.net/quiz/houses.html

You can buy/make a scarf in any house colors.

I'm not sure who I'm going as. Don't know if I dare color my hair again before then. I think I'll go as Tonks regardless I may just have to be the sad forlorn version with my brown hair LOL. But shes who I relate to best, her or Hermoine...with the knitting and S.P.E.W. I would totally be a member and make little house elf hats. ;)

As I suspected, I'm a Ravenclaw.

Still not sure I'll dress up, even in a scarf. Not even sure I'll be brave enough to go. I just want my book and I want to see what kind of insanity ensues.

Hey, I'm a Ravenclaw too :-) I'd totally be there with you, scarf and all, but alas I'll be in Northern Canada. Away from any bookstores. Pining for the pre-ordered copy that's waiting for me.

le sigh

You should go, it'll definitely be an experience :-)

Hannah wants to go, but... uh, not. ;) I'm too lazy to go. I'm going to buy a copy (the darn library wants the staff to let the patrons read first, yegads) but probably get it through Amazon.

Oh so sad we don't live close together. The menfolk always go, and make costumes, it's a BIG DEAL. I sometimes go. I am totally going this year and I'm gonna dress up like Professor McGonnigle.

I'm Gryffindor! Woo hoo! Seriously, though...I think on that quiz, they give you whatever you pick on the last question. I went back and changed it three times, and each time I got what I picked on the last question, even though I didn't change any of my other answers.

You HAVE to at least wear a scarf! Why else would you go? You must. I demand it.

We've went to a couple and will be going to this one, probably as a family. For us it really hasn't been any kind of insanity. It's a LOT of elementary school children and middle aged women, all kind of split down the middle between dressed or not dressed, and a smattering of teenagers of both genders, most of whom are dressed up. Everyone stands in lines and chokes the parking lots with their cars, and generally crowds up the place, but other than that there hasn't been much "party" about it, in our experience...for a couple of hours before midnight they have some areas set up for kids with like a magician, for example. None of us have ever dressed up at all, though this time Annie and Aaron might.

I wish we lived closer to you!

I'm going to a party at a fellow LJers house. Wanna come along? We are walking to the local bookstore for the release at midnight, and coming home and reading.

I'm having trouble finding someone to come with me to the release party up here in Canada as well. One of my friends works at a bookstore a few towns over and I want to go to his store specifically as they have all kinds of Potter-themed events going on. Oh and I'm Ravenclaw. Not sure I'll wear my scarf or not, but I have socks here somewhere. I should at least dig *those* out...

Wish I could join you but I´ll be in Salt Lake City that night. I think that I won´t be getting the book until I get to KC.
