We need a name for our homeschool. See, Kansas doesn't have laws specifically addressing homeschools. Homeschool falls under "non-accredited private schools". All you have to do in Kansas to homeschool is register your "non-accredited private school" with the state board of education. The form asks the name of the school. So...we need a name.

We are Orthodox Christians, using a classical, Charlotte Mason leaning approach. I was thinking of naming us for a saint...like maybe St. Sophia. St. Sophia had three daughters and I look to her for inspiration all the time (though she is so far beyond me, it is pretty hopeless). Sophia is wisdom. Isn't that what we are trying to teach our children? I don't know. St. Sophia Orthodox Chrisitan School is too...ummmm...pretentious souding. Then I thought about something simple. Refuge Academy. You know me and the "home is my refuge" thing. Goes with my life motto, "Now I know a refuge never grows from a chin in a hand in a thoughtful pose, gotta tend the earth if you want a rose." from the Indigo Girls. But Refuge Academy sounds like the school at a refugee camp. I need HELP!

I challenge you all to help me find a name for our "non-accredited private school"!

I think St. Sophia is fine... not pretentious. Maybe St. Sophia School, and not put Orthodox Christian in it?

Or... Russians say St. Tatiana is the patron of schools/learning/students. I don't know why, though.

I'll have to see if I can think of anything else--I'm bad with coming up with names.
