We are praying in our inner room when we withdraw our heart completely from the clamour of our thoughts and preoccupations, and in a kind of secret dialogue, as between intimate friends, we lay bare our desires before the Lord.
- St. John Cassian

By the way, St. John Cassian is where I got the name Cassiana. The name that got stuck in my head within hours of finding out I was pregnant. I still think of that baby as Cassi for some reason. I like St. John Cassian. He is so warm and...personal. Sometimes I miss the "personal" faith of my Protestant childhood. I forget that it is still there in Orthodoxy. I keep looking at what is different about the my faith now, and forget what is the same...what is different is what intriqued me, what is the same is what pulled me in. I need to remember that.

what is different is what intrigued me, what is the same is what pulled me in. I need to remember that.

Amen.
