We have gotten up very late today. Which is okay because Friday is our day off, somewhat. I don't have a field trip planned and we aren't horribly behind on any school stuff, so really I'm not sure what we a doing with this day. I should go work out, at least some light cardio. But yesterday I met with a personal trainer who designed a workout for me. He had me do all the strength training so we could assess what I needed. I'm so sore I'm having a hard time lifting my arms over my head. so I don't know if I can make myself go. This was a free session that came with our membership. I'm thinking of doing another one in a month and paying for it. It ain't cheap, but he was so incredibly helpful yesterday designing my "plan" for me. And he said it will need to change pretty substantially in about a month as I'm working on conditioning now, but will need to be working on strength training eventually. I don't know how to change things up effectively. I understand what these guys do now. I thought it was a kind of a joke, but now I see it is not. It definately will help me maximize my time in my workouts. I was very uncomfortable and embarrassed, but I did it anyway. It was good, I'm glad I did it.
Change of topic:
Maria's reading skills are really taking off. And she is in a phase where she WANTS to read, which is wonderful. She was really balking there for awhile. Suddenly she follows me around all day with Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat and Put me in the Zoo and asks to read to me. It is so great. Zoe really wants to read too, but is having a little more trouble. I shouldn't really call it that, she just is where she is. She is trying so hard too. I just love to watch it.
Luci is showing no interest whatsoever in phonics or reading. Ah well. She loves to do Rightstart Math and listens to us read and is interested when I do her thinking skills workbooks with her or do Five in A Row activities. We did Madeline this week and she LOVES Madeline now.
I'm thinking of taking the girls to an American Heritage Girls meeting next Monday to check it out. I know we will only be here for another two months or so still, but if they like it, there is a troop near us in Kansas, so they can just transfer to a new troop, I hope. I don't want to live in the future. We need to take advantage of the two months we have here. At least we can find out if we even like it.
