Has anyone ever been to the Maryland Renaissance Festival? I love RenFens and haven't been to one in years. I'd love to take the girls on Saturday. Is this a good one?

I gotta love the fact that kids six and under get in free.

We go every year. It's a nice one. There are free pony rides for the kids. There're elephant rides, and a free kids playground that's enjoyable for younger and older kids. Lots of different shows, and tons of food + other opportunities to spend your money. Plenty of trees, so you aren't baking in the sun, though by midday the privies are really stinky.

Yay! Not for the privies, but for the good review because I really want to go!

I have! It's pretty good, though I've only also been to the PA one. If you go, and if they're still there, you MUST see Shakespeare's Skum. The shows are short, and comical enough that the girlies would be okay with them, and they're very funny.

I wish I didn't have to work this weekend, or I would want to come tag along!

Darn. That was going to be my next question.

I actually am no longer going to be going to the branch opening on Saturday, so I can shift my working time to the evening. If you're still going, we can meet up? We were also planning to go to the St. Nicholas bazaar next Saturday as well.

yeah, I realized they were the same day after I posted my last comment. Kind of a long drive in the wrong direction for you. This is the ONLY time we can make it to the Ren. Festival though. I don't think we will make it to the St. Nicolas bazaar. Geez, there are just too many things on my list....

Wait, were you going to the Ren Festival a week from Saturday, or day-after-tomorrow Saturday? Because the St. Nicolas bazaar is a week from Saturday. I hear you about crazy schedules, though. We've been trying to get to a lighthouse for Hannah (who really wants to see it), but they're only open during certain hours on Saturday and Sunday.

I've not, but I also like RenFens, but it has been years.

as a former marylander and lurker, the ren faire is great, i just always hated the crowds. the PA (in Manheim) one rivals it quite well though (and has less crowds), so you should try to make it up there sometime (in years to come or whatever). have fun!
