Christmas gifts!

Because it is fun and I love reading other people's lists, here is what I've bought or am going to buy the girls and Brad for Christmas. I haven't done a good job at all with my fair trade, homemade, all natural Christmas. *sigh* My girls are getting big enough to make their own wants known. I'm doing better with smaller, extended family gifts though.
Maria is getting a vanity table, a used digital camera, and something else small I haven't decided on yet. After shopping all over kingdom come, we decided to make her vanity table ourselves. We bought a small table at IKEA for which my mother is making a sparkly tulle skirt. I'm going to buy a mirror and make a border out of the same tulle for it as well. We also got her a hot pink plastic chair from IKEA. It should all look extremely froo-froo and pink and perfect for her and her new bedroom.
Zoe is getting two Only Hearts Club dolls, a used digital camera, and a set of Connectagons. She was crying the other day because Maria and Luci would not share their Barbie/Disney princess dolls with her so she could play with them and she does not have any of her own. When I pointed out she hadn't ever wanted any before and asked if she liked Barbies or Disney Princesses she said she did not like them. She said they look "dumb". But she did say she liked the Only Hearts Club dolls. Funny girl. Did I tell you she bought herself a cheap skateboard with her birthday money? She did. And was having great fun learning to balance on it until she wiped out big time and now she won't touch it. :P
Luci is getting the Wizard of Oz plush dolls I found on ebay, a used digital camera, and a hammock/swing chair from IKEA.
I have their stocking stuff mostly bought too.
I bought Brad stuff for Iraq. I hope he doesn't read this. I got him a pair of tactical sunglasses that look pretty cool. They have a removable seal to keep sand out of his eyes and a removable strap to keep them on when he is active. I hope he likes them. Then I bought him some seriously fancy socks with all kinds of wicking, cushioning properties. Those boots he'll be living in aren't really all that comfortable. I think I'm going to get him a photo book too, one of those small brag book sizes that are just bound 4x6 size prints. I figure he can tuck it in a backpack or even one of his big pockets to pull out when asked about his kids. I thought about a cool digital picture frame too. I found one that has the time and temperature and stuff on it, but I don't know if that would work in Iraq. I'm thinking I might save the picture frame idea, something to send him later. I also think I'll get him a stationary set to write to his girls. That will probably be it as the sunglasses were fairly expensive. Maybe some toiletry items for his stocking.
My sisters and I decided to sponsor a couple of kids for Christmas through one of my sister's churches instead of buying each other gifts. I still need to buy for my neices(3) and nephews(3) though. And the women in Brad's family. He has taken care of the men...gift cards. Heh, we are so boring. I just don't have time to worry about it this year.
Now, I must go teach my girls...something.

Date: 2007-11-27 06:09 pm (UTC)Thank you for the compliment. I don't think I deserve it as I am the worlds worst gift giver most of the time. I tend to give people the things they take back or exchange. It is chronic with me.
