The choir the girls are in is having a concert in May. They asked the kids to write "back stories" about themselves and their families to display at the concert. Zoe (age 8) was thrilled with this assignment and sat down and wrote hers immediately. I thought it was sweet. Here it is.

Moving Around

My dad is in the Army so I move around a lot. Sometimes I don’t

know what to call home. My mom says Kansas is our home but we don’t

live there. We have been to Kansas, Texas, Virginia, Kansas again, and

Colorado. Every year or two there is a big moving truck in the front of

our house. It is hard to move. But it is fun and sad. We also get to see

new places. My mom says home is where family is.

Yeah the kid is a born writer. She is the only one that doesn't fight her daily journal assignment. She can't wait to get to it. And writes stories constantly. Some of them are quite good, if I do say so myself!

Have you ever read the book _Only Opal_ by Opal Whiteley and Jane Boulton? It was written by a small girl, and Zoe's writing reminds me of it. If you haven't read it, you should find a copy. It's amazing!

She is a lovely writer! I love that you've taught her that home is where family is. Then she can always fine home.
