Brad says, "He's not presidential material." in that warning voice that means "You'll be throwing your vote away." I hate that. I hate it when he does that. I find a candidate I can actually AGREE with on more than one issue, and he thinks I can't vote for him because he can't win.
Our votes are more than just voting for the guy who wins.
I've never voted for a presidential candidate who had a hope of winning. I've never thrown my vote away. If nothing else, I hope the fact that my chosen candidates got votes informed the national discourse in some way, you know?
I am not a big fan of our existing "two party" system. Reforming such a system is difficult. However, this year Illinois made an important step in the primaries. I voted for the Green Party. They got enough votes to get them "major party" status in future elections, including matching governmental funds. That makes them much more likely to be able to get elected to major offices. Now, I don't necessarily agree with them, but with corruption rampant on both sides of the aisle here I felt it was the right way to vote.
