Anyone have a recipe with some protein for a kid friendly finger food that is meat free, gluten free, dairy free? Nuts are okay.

Yes, ridiculous. This is for Maria's Half Birthday party on Friday (fyi her birthday is on December 24th, impossible to have a "kid" party). She is having a pool party, loosely luau themed. Doing fruit kabobs and a pasta salad (gluten free) that is hawaiian themed (pineapple, sugar snap peas, carrots, cucumber). Also cake and ice cream of course (we'll have some gluten free cupcakes and coconut milk ice cream available for those that need them). I want some protein available though so the kids don't die.

I have one kid who is a vegetarian and two with celiac disease. Let me think on this; I'm sure I have some good ideas. :)

Are eggs still out? If they're okay, then I have a recipe for cupcakes that are made of eggs and almond flour and flavorings, nothing else, and so they're actually fairly high protein. But my recollection is that eggs were also on Luci's not-ok list. If eggs are okay, let me know and I'll give you that recipe.

What about just using peanut butter as a dip for the carrots, snap peas, etc? Maybe thin it with some soy milk or rice milk if they'd prefer a thinner dip. Or peanut butter between gluten-free crackers (Nut Thins are awesome, but there are plain rice crackers that are gluten-free also, and easy to find) to make little sandwiches.

Mini sandwiches made with turkey or ham on gluten free bread?

How about hummus or a bean dip with gluten free pita? Here's a blog I found through a random Google search that has a recipe for gluten free pita bread :)

Holy cow, I think the heat here is frying my brain, lol.

Okay ignore my first suggestion or substitute peanut or almond butter for the meat ;)

If I buy the right nuts, my kids will tear them up...Back To Nature makes these bagged nuts (that are like FIVE DOLLARS A BAG) called "Tuscan Herb Blend" and my children TEAR into them and destroy them in a single sitting. They are just so good! None of my kids except Elise and Ananda will eat raw nuts, and it's hit or miss with just roasting them...though now that I think about it, I think salted sunflower seeds and honey roasted peanuts are also usually big hits with kids. This is assuming you are NOT contending with nut allergies! If it were me I would probably do things like that, and surround peanut butter with baby carrots and call it a day.

Does meat-free include shellfish? Could you do mini crabcakes?

Edamame?

Bean Taquitos?

Tofu pot stickers?

Empanada?

We use corn tortillas to make individual pizzas. We use soy cheese when ds's godmother is here (lactose intolerant). We "glue" two tortilla shells together to make it thicker, using a layer of cheese, then we add sauce on top and whatever veggie/meat/cheese combos each person wants. This would be very easy to personalize to the preferences of each person, but only takes about 2 minutes to assemble each pizza.

Also, we make cereal treats out of whatever gluten free cereal we can find. Use the same recipe as rice krispie treats, just with any GF cereal.

Oh, we also use GF cookies to make "strawberry short-cookie." And I *think* cool whip is non-dairy, but unsure.
